Born in Hiroshima, Japan, in 1959, Daisuke Nishio joined Toei Animation in 1981 and debuted with Dr. Slump (1982), a box office hit and one of the highest-grossing manga adaptations of its time. Renowned for his work on Dragon Ball Z, Nishio became Toei’s top director for martial arts and action films. His diverse filmography spans drama, noir, mystery, and sci-fi, including Dragon Ball, One Piece, Futari Wa Pretty Cure, and Interstella 5555.
